All I can say is, I hope so. With our lightning-fast electronic age, it’s nice to find respite in old technology. The permanence of a tactile photo is timeless.

Polaroids Revived

It was just over a year ago when Impossible B.V. announced that it would take on the challenge to remake and start production of analog integral film for vintage Polaroid cameras. A small group of Dutch scientists were focused on not re-inventing the Polaroid brand, but rather design an entirely new manufacturing process for the beloved instant pack films. Call for Chicago Film Processing

In a recent quest to find good photo processing in the Chicago area, I was disappointed with the lack of resources for a list of processors. So, in my attempt to put together a list of photo processing laboratories, I need your help. If you know of any labs that still process professionally, such as E6, full black & white, 120, 4x5 and even 8x10 I would love to hear from you!
The Impossible Project

This message to the Polaroid faithful will come as some exciting news. A company called Impossible b.v. has gotten the support of some investors to re-start production of analog integral film for vintage Polaroid cameras in 2010.
Polaroids: Not Quite Forgotten

It was about 7 years ago when I was introduced to Polaroids. I know what you’re thinking. Really? You only knew of Polaroids seven years ago? Well, yes and no. It was then where I learned of the professional, wide expanses that the instant, shake to develop film had to offer. I had always known what a Polaroid was, but never realized how cool it could be. As many of you who know me, I never am content with doing things the easy way. In this case I guess we could assume that I don’t like taking photos the easy way. Sure I could be happy as a clam snapping some photos with a small digital point & shoot, but what fun would that be? Where is the challenge in that? The challenge of a permanent image, once that shutter is snapped and the film is pulled from the camera.
